230th Anniversary of the Constitution of 3 May Celebrated in Geneva
On 3 May, the Permanent Missions of Lithuania and Poland in Geneva virtually commemorated the 230th anniversary of the Constitution of 3 May 1791 and Mutual Pledge of the Two Nations of 20 October 1791.
“The Constitution was a significant achievement of the progressive political thought of that time and, even if it was in force only for a short period of time, it grew to become a symbol of people’s longing for liberty and justice. Today it is also a symbol of friendship, solidarity and strategic partnership between Lithuania and Poland”, - said the Permanent Representative of Lithuania Ambassador Andrius Krivas at the opening.
This important anniversary was commemorated with a musical recital by the international concert pianist MŪZA Rubackytė who performed pieces by Lithuanian and Polish composers, respectively, Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis and Fryderyk Chopin.
The recording of the event is available on Youtube.
