Book Presentation at Lithuanian Permanent Mission

On 14 December, the Lithuanian Permanent Mission hosted a presentation of Professor Dalia Leinarte’s historic research book “Lithuanian Family in Its European Context, 1800-1914: Marriage, Divorce and Flexible Communities”.

The book, published by Palgrave Macmillan, was presented by the author who currently serves as the Chairperson of the UN Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women. The event was attended by Permanent Representatives or other diplomats of Lithuania, Sweden, Germany, Latvia and Poland, by the Heads of the Women at the Table and UN Women Liaison Office in Geneva as well as representatives of other international organizations, research and artistic community. An insightful debate developed on issues related to modern gender equality challenges and their historic roots as well as on the role and tasks of international organizations in this area.
