On 18 January, a meeting of the EU Council's Working Party on Human Rights (capitals formation) with the EU Permanent Representatives to the UN Office took place in the premises of the EU Delegation in Geneva.

The EU diplomats engaged in a discussion with the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Zeid Ra'ad Al Hussein and discussed the drafting of the EU Council Conclusions and EU Strategic Work Plan on human rights issues. EU capitals' representatives presented their countries' international human rights priorities for 2018. At the meeting, Lithuania was represented by the Deputy Director of the MFA UN and Human Rights Department, Ms. Eglė Račinskienė. She underscored the monitoring and reporting of the human rights abuses in Russia-controlled parts of Ukraine and Georgia, combatting violence against women, promoting safety of journalists, and the rights of persons with disabilities as Lithuania's priorities.
