In Geneva, Lithuania Encourages to Listen to Human Rights Defenders
On 1 March, the Delegation of Lithuania took the floor at the 37th session of the Human Rights Council in the clustered interactive dialogue with the Special Rapporteurs on human rights defenders and on torture.
The Lithuanian representative expressed strong support to the mandates of both Special Rapporteurs and encouraged the UN Members States to take into account the opinions and ideas of the human rights defenders in drafting the global compacts on migration and on refugees.
The Geneva-based Human Rights Council was established in 2006. Its 47 members are elected from among the UN Member States. Lithuania takes part in the work of the HRC as observer.
