Lithuania co-organizes HRC41 side event on Freedom of Peaceful Assembly and of Association
On 2 July 2019, the Permanent Missions of Czech Republic, Lithuania, Maldives and Mexico in Geneva organised an event in the margins of the 41st session of the Human Rights Council focused on the freedom of peaceful assembly and of association.
Deputy High Commissioner for Human Rights Kate Gilmore, UN Special Rapporteur on the rights to freedom of peaceful assembly and of association Clément Voule, Director of Human Rights department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic David Černenko, representatives of ILO, academia and civil society emphasised the vital role of freedom of peaceful assembly and of association in ensuring inclusive and vibrant societies and expressed their support for the work and mandate of the Special Rapporteur. The event was attended by a large group of diplomats of the UN Member States and representatives of NGOs.
At the 41st session of Human Rights Council, together with the Czech Republic, Indonesia, Maldives and Mexico, Lithuania presents a resolution on the renewal of the mandate of the Special Rapporteur on the rights to freedom of peaceful assembly and of association.
