Lithuania Pledges Unearmarked Contribution to UNHCR Budget
On 5 December the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Lithuania to the UN Office and other International Organizations in Geneva Ambassador Andrius Krivas made a statement at the annual UNHCR Pledging Conference.
The Ambassador expressed Lithuania’s support for UNHCR leadership in the area of refugee protection and implementing complex humanitarian support operations in refugee crises that cross borders and affect entire regions. Lithuania consistently increases its voluntary support and budget contributions to the humanitarian agencies. This year Lithuania has supported UNHCR emergency humanitarian assistance operations in Iraq (contribution of 40,000 euros) and in Bangladesh and Myanmar where the UNHCR assists Rohingya refugees (contribution of 20,000 euros). For 2018, Lithuania pledged a voluntary contribution of 20,000 euros in unearmarked funds to the UNHCR budget.
