Lithuania represents position of Central European and Baltic States Regional Group at negotiations on a new legal instrument of the World Intellectual Property Organization

On 19-23 March, at the 35th Session of the Intergovernmental Committee on Intellectual Property and Genetic Resources, Traditional Knowledge and Folklore (IGC) negotiations on a new international legal instrument with regard to intellectual property issues related to genetic resources and associated traditional knowledge took place in Geneva. Lithuania, co-ordinator of the Central European and Baltic States Group (CEBS), represented position of 18 countries of the CEBS Group aiming to ensure that the new WIPO instrument would set right conditions for promotion of innovations based on sustainable use of genetic resources, including in the area of biotechnology and life sciences, while being in accordance with other international instruments.
