Lithuania Takes Floor at Human Rights Council
The Delegation of Lithuania at the 37th session of the UN Human Rights Council took the floor in the interactive dialogue with the Special Representatives of the Secretary General on violence against children and on children and armed conflict on 7 March and in the interactive dialogue with the High Commissioner for Human Rights on 8 March.
The Lithuanian representative expressed support to their respective mandates and activities. In the dialogue on the rights of the child, Lithuania condemned the violence against children, reaffirmed the high priority it attaches to the rights of the child in its domestic and foreign policy and highlighted the importance of the protection of the rights of the child in the context of the implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Goals. In the dialogue with High Commissioner Zeid Ra'ad Al Hussein, Lithuania emphasized the need to protect from attacks and intimidation the civil society, human rights defenders and journalists and condemned the practice of impunity for human rights violations.
