Lithuanian Government Allocates 100 000 Euros to Support Venezuelan People

The Government of Lithuania will contribute 100 000 euros from its reserve fund to finance humanitarian aid for Venezuelan people.

The assistance will be provided through the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC). The Secretary General of the organization Mr Elhadj As Sy has addressed the Prime Minister of the Republic of Lithuania Mr Saulius Skvernelis in a letter asking the Government to assist IFRC in providing humanitarian aid in Venezuela.

People living in Venezuela, which is affected by deep political, economic and humanitarian crisis, are lacking fuel, experiencing power shortages and suffering from hyperinflation. According to the European Commission, 82 percent of citizens have no running water, 80 percent are living in poverty, and 70 percent of children are not attending school.
