Lithuanian Permanent Representative Joins Geneva Gender Champions
Director-General of the UN Office at Geneva Michael Møller, the US Permanent Representative in Geneva Ambassador Pamela Hamamoto, and the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of The Women at the Table Caitlin Kraft-Buchman have welcomed the Permanent Representative of Lithuania, Ambassador Andrius Krivas, to the International Geneva Gender Champions (GGC) network, which they launched in 2015.
Participation in the GGC network is open to permanent representatives, heads of international organisations and civil society leaders in the Geneva area who share the GGC objective to break down some of the systemic barriers that prevent women from fully developing their potential and from contributing to society in all the ways they can. The GGC network counts more than a hundred members.
“Genuine organic integration of gender equality into policy approaches across all sectors of government and society is indispensable to the global community’s ability to make progress along the path of peaceful and harmonious development,” – the Lithuanian Ambassador wrote in his application to join.
Aspects of gender equality are important in pursuing the UN Sustainable Development Goals 2030. The UN Office and other Geneva-based international organisations play a central role in the SDG implementation in their respective fields of activity.
