On 8 October 2018, Lithuanian Permanent Representative to the UN Office and other International Organisations in Geneva Ambassador Andrius Krivas made an office call on the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Michelle Bachelet.
The Ambassador warmly congratulated the new High Commissioner on her recent appointment and pledged Lithuania’s full support and cooperation in implementing her mandate and in meeting the awaiting challenges in dealing with the worldwide human rights agenda. The Permanent Representative and the High Commissioner discussed Lithuania’s work in the area of human rights, its bid for membership in the UN Human Rights Council in 2022-2024, and the human rights challenges in the Eastern European region.
The High Commissioner warmly remembered her participation in the high-level event on the Economic Growth through Women’s Empowerment organised at the initiative of the Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaitė on 27 September in the margins of the UN General Assembly in New York
