Lithuanian State Restoration Centennial Marked with Commemoration of 1918 Independence Act Signatories

On the day of the 100th anniversary of the Lithuanian State Restoration, the Permanent Representative of Lithuania in Geneva Ambassador Andrius Krivas and his spouse Rūta Krivienė traveled to Lugano to honor the memory of two signatories of the 16 February 1918 Lithuania Independence Act who had lived there, Kazimieras Steponas Šaulys and Jurgis Šaulys.

On behalf of the Lithuanian diplomats and Lithuanian Community in Switzerland, the ambassador put flowers and lit a candle at the guest house of the Sisters of St. Birgitte where Prelate Kazimieras Šaulys died in 1964. The permanent representative also laid flowers at the Crypt of the Castagnola Cemetery in memory of Dr. Jurgis Šaulys and his wife Mafalda Salvatini-Šaulys who are buried there.
