Lithuania’s delegation participates at 57th Series of Meetings of the Assemblies of WIPO

Photo: Emmanuel Berrod (WIPO) From October 2 to 11 the 57th Series of Meetings of the Assemblies of the member states of World Intellectual Property organization (WIPO) takes place in Geneva. Among most important issues, there are negotiations on WIPO budget and programs for the period of 2018 – 2019, as well as normative agenda of WIPO and establishment of  four external WIPO Offices in distant WIPO member states.

Lithuania’s delegation, led by Director of the State Patent Bureau Arūnas Želvys and Permanent Representative of the Republic of Lithuania to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva Ambassador Andrius Krivas, is focused on representing Lithuania’s interests in particular as regards unsolved issues of the WIPO budget, negotiations on WIPO new treaties (Design Law Treaty and Treaty on Protection of Broadcasting Organizations), as well as towards adoption of the new mandate for further work in fields of genetic resources, traditional knowledge and traditional cultural expressions. In the margins of Assemblies, the Lithuanian Delegation is working with the WIPO Secretariat on a Plan of bilateral cooperation between WIPO and Lithuania for 2018, as well as having meetings in various regional formats.
