Minister Aurelijus Veryga attended the World Health Assembly

On 20-21 May, Minister of Health Aurelijus Veryga attended the 72nd World Health Assembly in Geneva.

This high-level meeting of health experts and politicians discusses strategic issues of the World Health Organization (WHO) such as WHO reform, budget and financial issues of programs, implementation of the Sustainable Development Agenda 2030, universal health coverage, chronic non-infectious, communicable diseases and other important issues.

Minister Veryga spoke at the plenary session on "Universal health coverage: leaving no one behind". Among other aspects, the Minister noted in his speech the achievements of Lithuania in seeking universal health coverage by increasing the availability of medicines and reducing their prices, prioritizing primary health care, the development of e-health measures, and so on.

During the World Health Assembly, Minister Veryga also met with high-level delegations from Japan, Israel, Georgia and members of the International Student Medical Association.
