THE FIRST LITHUANIAN TEACHERS PROGRAMME ORGANIZED IN CERN
On March 10, Ambassador R. Paulauskas participated in the opening of the first Lithuanian teachers programme organized in the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN). During this programme, physics teachers from different countries have a unique opportunity to experience the atmosphere of frontier research at the LHC, meet with scientists and teaching colleagues, and find new ideas on bringing modern physics into the classroom. Lectures are held by scientists and founders of CERN. It is the first time when Lithuanian teachers participate in this programme.
Teachers programme consists of intensive theoretical lectures, workshops as well as the tours around the main CERN objectives. In addition, teachers will meet and exchange ideas with Lithuanian minister of Education and Science D. Pavalkis as well as with Lithuanian scientists currently working in CERN. Accommodation is provided by a hostel in CERN, which is very convenient and gives teachers an opportunity to feel the atmosphere of CERN. After participating in this programme, teachers will be able to use all the information they gained CERN in order to transfer the updated physical knowledge to their students.
