WTO innovation fair 2014

On Tuesday, October 28, 2014, the first WTO Innovation Fair will take place at the World Trade Organization in Geneva. This unique event will gather together a diverse array of creators and inventors – from individuals to organizations of all sizes – from round the world.

Together they will demonstrate the working of the entire innovation lifecycle – from research and development, up to the financingand commercialization for cutting-edge and critical technologies. Attendees will have the unique opportunity to learn more about trade, innnovation and Intellectual Property (IP) directly from those involved.

The WTO is positioned at the cross roads of global commerce and international law. Trade serves as one of the key conduits for innovation, and plays a fundamental role in voluntar y technology transfer and know-how diffusion.

Innovation is today not simply a priority but an imperative for all countries.

Its benefits are not only economic – such as job creation and economic growth and development – but are also social, helping to provide solutions to the needs of communities. To secure these benefits, intellectual property is one of the key mechanisms to protect the romise of innovation for consumers to combating the challenges we face, whether locally or globally.
