Important information regarding the Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Confirmed cases Latest information on confirmed coronavirus cases (COVID-19) in Lithuania Total number of nine cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) confirmed in Lithuania as of March 15, 2020: One case confirmed on late Saturday evening (March 14) for a person in Panėvežys city who recently returned from the Netherlands. Two additional cases, on March 14, confirmed for one person in Vilnius city and the other one in Kaunas city. Early Saturday morning (March 14) one case confirmed for one person in Klaipėda city, who recently returned from Denmark. Three individuals were diagnosed with the coronavirus on Friday, March 13, a Spanish national and two Lithuanians have reportedly been exposed to the virus abroad. National level emergency Level three of preparedness of the civil protection system and quarantine on the territory of the Republic of Lithuania declared on March 14, 2020. Quarantine set to be introduced at midnight on March 16, Monday to slow down the spread of the coronavirus. Once the quarantine is in place, Lithuanian citizens, with some exceptions, will be banned from leaving the country, and foreigners will be banned from entering the country. Arrival of foreign nationals in the Republic of Lithuania is prohibited, except for drivers and members of crews in case of commercial and/or international carriage of goods; residents of the Republic of Lithuania, diplomats, and military personnel of military units of NATO and NATO countries, their staff and members of their families. Foreign nationals will be allowed to enter the territory of Lithuania until midnight, March 19 on condition they cross without indispensable stop. Border crossing shall be allowed at the following international border crossing points: Kalvarija–Budzisko, Saločiai–Grenctāle, Būtingė–Rucava, Smėlynė–Medume, Medininkai–Kamenyj Log, Raigardas–Privalka, Kybartai–Chernyshevskoe, Panemunė–Sovietsk, Vilnius, Kaunas, Palanga, Šiauliai airports, and the Klaipėda State Seaport. Movement of goods shall not be restricted. The majority of shops shall be closed except for groceries and pharmacies. Individuals are obliged to self-isolate after returning from abroad. All gatherings held in open and closed spaces are suspended until March 27 All public institutions advised to switch to teleworking as much as possible. Travel recommendations Prohibitions to nationals of the Republic of Lithuania to leave the Republic of Lithuania is applied, except return to the places of residence or work and holders of a permit of the Head of the State Border Guard Service under the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Lithuania or an authorised official. Important to know If within 14 days of your last visit to the COVID-19 affected areas (China (all provinces), Northern Italy (Lombardy, Veneto, Piedmont and Emilia-Romagna regions), Hong Kong, Iran, Japan, South Korea and Singapore) or following close contact with a person with a confirmed COVID-19 disease you have experienced flu-like symptoms, such as fever, cough, shortness of breath or other respiratory problems, such as muscle pain or fatigue, please call immediately the Emergency Help Centre line 112 and follow medical advice.  If you have not travelled to these countries, have not been in contact with persons with a confirmed COVID-19 disease and have experienced flu-like symptoms, please contact the nearest health facility. National level emergency
